Rainy Day Indoor Toys for Kids in London: Active Games That Get Them Moving

Junior boxing pad with light-up targets and gloves, an indoor active toy for kids

London gets a lot of rain, and a wet Saturday in a flat with an energetic child can feel very long. Parks are muddy, soft play is packed, and the tablet starts to look tempting.

These four toys are designed for indoor play, and most of them get children up and moving. They're all dispatched from our Wembley warehouse and delivered across London and the UK.

The short answer: To burn off energy, choose the Junior Boxing Pad (£25). For a family game, choose the Butt Head Game (£10). For music and noise, choose the Digital Drum Sticks (£13). For quieter focus, choose the Minecraft Pinball (£50).

Four Indoor Toys Compared

Toy Price Energy level Space needed
Junior Boxing Pad £25 High A clear area of wall
Butt Head Game £10 Medium to high A bit of floor space
Digital Drum Sticks £13 Medium Very little
Minecraft Pinball – Overworld £50 Low A table or desk

Junior Boxing Pad (£25)

The best energy-burner here. It mounts on a wall, and LED targets light up for children to punch, which turns exercise into a reaction game. It connects wirelessly to a phone so they can punch along to music, and a pair of cushioned gloves is included.

It's a smaller version of the full-size Boxing Pad, which suits London homes where space is tight. It fixes with strong adhesive and anti-slip pads, so choose a sturdy, clear section of wall. A phone isn't included. See the Junior Boxing Pad.

Butt Head Game (£10)

A simple physical game that gets the whole family laughing. One player wears the hat, and the aim is to catch the balls with your head. It comes with 1 hat and 3 balls, takes seconds to explain, and works well when cousins or friends come round. See the Butt Head Game.

Digital Drum Sticks (£13)

Tap them on a suitable surface and they play drum sounds through built-in speakers, with snare and cymbal sounds, light-up tips and background melodies. They give children a way to make music and move about without needing a real drum kit. They're not silent, so they're better suited to daytime than to late evenings in a flat. See the Digital Drum Sticks.

Minecraft Pinball – Overworld (£50)

For a calmer afternoon. This tabletop pinball has officially licensed Minecraft Overworld artwork, and the packaging highlights vibrating bumpers, flashing LED lights and Minecraft music. It's a good screen-free swap for a child who'd otherwise be playing Minecraft on a console. Ages 6+, as stated on the packaging. See the Minecraft Pinball – Overworld.

Making the Most of a Rainy Day Indoors

  • Turn it into a tournament. Keep score on the pinball, or time who catches the most balls in the Butt Head Game.
  • Mix active and calm. Twenty minutes on the boxing pad, then a quieter round of pinball, helps children settle.
  • Clear the space first. Move breakables before any game that involves throwing or punching.
  • Think about downstairs neighbours. In a flat, the drum sticks and boxing pad are best during the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best indoor toy for an energetic child?

The Junior Boxing Pad. Its light-up targets turn punching into a reaction game, and it's designed for use at home.

Does the boxing pad damage walls?

It fixes with strong adhesive and anti-slip pads. Follow the manufacturer's mounting instructions and choose a sturdy, suitable wall. If you rent, check what your tenancy allows first.

Are any of these screen-free?

The Butt Head Game, drum sticks and pinball are all screen-free. The boxing pad can play music from a phone, but it doesn't need a screen to play.
